Joseph M. Conlon was born in Lakewood, Ohio on June 4, 1951. He studied
Clinical Psychology at both the University of Dayton and Cleveland State
University prior to enlisting in the U.S. Army in 1974. During his 3-year Army
tour he was assigned as the Chief Preventive Medicine NCO of the Second Armored
Division at FT. Hood, Texas. Upon his discharge from active duty in December of
1977, he pursued undergraduate Environmental Health and Biology studies and
received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Parasitology and Medical Entomology
(1979) and his Master of Science Degree in Medical Entomology (1981) from
Bowling Green State University, Ohio. Mr. Conlon was awarded a Master of
Science Degree in Secondary Science Education from Old Dominion University in
1995.

Mr. Conlon was commissioned as a Navy Medical Entomologist in 1981 and entered
active duty on 10 January, 1982. Mr. Conlon retired from the U.S. Navy on 1
August, 2000 with the rank of Commander and is now serving as the Technical
Advisor for the American Mosquito Control Association.
Joe Conlon has published 27 papers in peer-reviewed scientific journals and has
published over 130 articles in various trade magazines and major newspapers. He
has testified before Congress regarding West Nile Virus control on two
occasions. He is a member of the American Mosquito Control Association, Georgia
Mosquito Control Association, South Carolina Mosquito Control Association,
Virginia Mosquito Control Association (President-1996/1997), North Carolina
Mosquito Control Association, Illinois Mosquito Control Association,
Pennsylvania Vector Control Association, Ohio Mosquito Control Association,
Mid-American Mosquito Control Association (President - 1998/1999), and New York
Entomological Society (honorary).
