Our annual meeting of public health and mosquito control professionals allows our membership to engage for a week of learning, collaboration, and networking. Next year is no exception.  We look forward to seeing everyone!

Why should you attend AMCA’s annual meeting in Puerto Rico?

Each year our annual meeting has a program designed to highlight the various research, collaborations, and innovations impacting our programs throughout the US.  Meeting in Puerto Rico will give our members a new perspective in the battle against mosquito-borne diseases.  The island's warm, humid climate and abundant rainfall create ideal breeding grounds for a variety of mosquito species. In recent years, there have been local outbreaks of Dengue fever, Zika virus, and Chikungunya virus in this U.S. Territory.

Meeting in Puerto Rico provides a unique opportunity to:

  • Discuss innovative solutions for mosquito control in a tropical environment. Attendees will have the chance to learn about the latest advancements in mosquito control methods and techniques that can be used to combat invasive Aedes as they expand their range throughout the continental U.S.
  • Learn about the unique challenges faced by Puerto Rican vector control professionals. Through presentations and discussions, attendees will gain valuable insights into the specific challenges faced by mosquito control professionals working in Puerto Rico, such as limited resources, diverse terrain, and a high population density.  In many ways these insights are applicable to many of our member’s districts, as we all struggle to balance limited budgets and ever-changing mosquito and human population structures.
  • Collaborate on research and development of new mosquito control methods. The meeting will foster collaboration between researchers, industry professionals, and public health officials to develop and implement new strategies for more effective mosquito control throughout the U.S. including many tropical regions.
